Raptor Research Foundation
2008 Annual Conference
Missoula, Montana
Mark your calendars for this international gathering of top raptor
researchers and educators. The 2008 conference pays tribute to the Craigheads, pioneers in
wildlife biology, conservation and American falconry. The “Legacy Lives On” theme challenges
biologists and students alike to take the next bold steps in the spirit of the
Craigheads—combining field research, cutting edge technology and communication to study and
conserve birds of prey around the globe. Members and non-members are invited to attend.
The event will be held at the Holiday Inn Downtown at the Park, overlooking the Clark Fork
River. Raptors of the Rockies, renowned for its education programs featuring live birds of prey,
is the host, with cohost the University of Montana. The conference features keynote speakers,
paper and poster sessions, field trips, a Saturday Raptors in Education Symposium, a Birds and
Art Show and a special showing of the Craighead film, Life With an Indian Prince.
Missoula nestles in the hub of five valleys and the confluence of three major rivers. Nearby
are three national wildlife refuges – Lee Metcalf, Ninepipe, and the National Bison Range.
Glacier National Park is a three hour drive to the north. The University of Montana hosts one
of the nation’s finest biological sciences departments and wildlife biology programs, including
the Avian Science Center, Avian Flight Lab, and USGS Montana Cooperative Wildlife Research
Unit.
